Truth Magazine explores Richard Hamilton’s Plastic Problem through bold masthead design, expressive image-making, and experimental typography. The issue reflects Hamilton’s critique of overconsumption and synthetic materials, turning his message into a visual narrative that challenges and engages the reader.
My image-making uses texture and visual identity to honor Richard Hamilton’s work by highlighting synthetic materials as both physical mediums and symbols of consumer culture. This approach continues his critique of overconsumption and artificial beauty. For the masthead, I created custom, uneven lettering inspired by the flexibility of plastics, mirroring their strange, changeable nature. These irregular forms break traditional typography rules, reinforcing the magazine’s message about transformation and the impact of artificial materials.
